Legal Aid Agency
LAA Funding and Fees
Clear funding information for solicitors seeking a legal aid funded expert witness report in the UK.
Transparent LAA funding pathway
We accept Legal Aid Agency rates and work with instructing solicitors to define a proportionate scope, estimate time, and identify the information normally needed for a Prior Authority application. Availability and scope are confirmed before substantive work begins.
Prior Authority and scoped instructions
An effective request identifies the expert issue, the proceedings, timetable, materials to be reviewed, proposed deliverable, and why the evidence is necessary. Country reports, CPIN rebuttals, medico-legal evidence, document verification, and live evidence may require different scopes and cost assumptions.
Fees and professional independence
Funding arrangements do not affect the opinion expressed. Reports for FtTIAC, UTIAC, and High Court matters are prepared independently, with the duty to the Tribunal or Court under CPR Part 35 and PD 35. Instructing firms receive clear communication where additional work or a revised authority may be required.
