Trauma-informed evaluations addressing PTSD, torture allegations, scarring, and the evidential consequences of mental health symptoms.
Istanbul Protocol informed assessment
Evaluations consider the consistency of psychological presentation and, where within the expert's expertise, physical findings with the account of ill-treatment. The approach is informed by the Istanbul Protocol and is sensitive to the effects of trauma, shame, avoidance, dissociation, and delayed disclosure.
PTSD and torture claims
Reports address diagnosis, functional impact, treatment needs, and the relationship between symptoms and the account given. They may assist the Tribunal in considering apparent inconsistencies, memory difficulties, vulnerability, risk on return, and the consequences of removal for an appellant such as AA (Pakistan).
Independent opinion for proceedings
The report records the history obtained, documents reviewed, assessment limits, differential considerations, and the factual assumptions on which any opinion depends. It is prepared for the Court or Tribunal, with an overriding duty under CPR Part 35 and PD 35 rather than to either party.
